GYHA MISSION STATEMENT
The Geauga Youth Hockey Association (GYHA) is based at The Pond Ice Arena just outside Chagrin Falls, OH and serves communities in Geauga, eastern Cuyahoga, north-eastern Summit, and north-western Portage Counties of Ohio. We are affiliated with the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (CSHL) and USA Hockey, and all teams are registered and operated in accordance with the guidelines and policies published by the aforementioned organizations.
We offer competitive travel hockey for the Mite, Squirt, Pee-Wee and Bantam age divisions under the following levels of play as defined by the CSHL and according to the ability of our teams:
1) AA level hockey is the highest level of travel/competitive
2) A - 1 is the second highest
3) A - 2 is the third highest
4) A - 3 is the fourth highest
5) B - 1 is the fifth highest
6) B - 2 is the sixth highest
We are a 501 (c) (3) "non-profit" corporation operating for charity and the benefit of members and their families. The GYHA relies heavily on volunteerism for its success including its coaches, managers, and board members. We encourage volunteerism and participation with the Association by all affiliated family members.
GYHA Mission/Vision/Values Statement
This Association claims complete jurisdiction to govern and regulate amateur ice hockey within the Geauga Youth Hockey Association. As such, the objectives of this Association shall be to:
- Provide children with a wholesome sport-fitness activity, which will be physically and mentally simulating.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork and safe, competitive play
. - Make certain that the program is fun with the children’s benefit and interest in mind.
- Help children improve knowledge and skill.
- Conduct, promote, and assist local, district, regional, national, or international hockey contests or tournaments in cooperation with affiliated or sanctioned organizations.
- Affiliate with, cooperate with, and retain membership in the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (CSHL) and/or other USA Hockey recognized organizations and to recognize those organizations jurisdiction to regulate member hockey teams.
- Affiliate with, cooperate with, and retain membership in USA Hockey, recognizing USA Hockey’s jurisdiction as the governing body of amateur ice hockey in the United States.
- Conduct two divisions of play – House League and Travel League. Each year, after registration, the teams will be formed as specified in these bylaws. At present, our house league is run in conjunction with The Pond.
